Right Call? Hail shortened Tour de France

A storm dropping hail and causing a landslide leads organizers to shorten today’s Stage 19 of the Tour de France. The race was stopped and the finish made the top of the Col de l’Iseran, causing Julian Alaphilippe to lose the yellow jersey to Egan Bernal, who had launched a fierce attack that put him 2 minutes and 7 seconds ahead. Bernal’s gain at the top of the mountain overcame his 1:30 deficit to start the stage.

What do you think? Did ASO make the right call? Would have Alaphilippe made up the gap with his killer descending skills? What does Andy Hampsten think?

No one wins the tour on a decent. Did no one see the landslide that came across the road? Personally i would have reset the peloton at the base of the next climb if road conditions were good.
