SRAM recalls Avid Single Digit 7 bicycle brakes

SRAM recalls Avid Single Digit 7 mechanical rim brakes
SRAM warns Avid SD7 mechanical rim brakes may fail and riders should seek replacement.

SRAM has issued a voluntary recall of its Avid Single Digit 7 direct-pull rim brakes because of potential failure that may result in rider crash and injury.

The problem is with a rivet in the brake assembly that can loosen or disengage. SRAM advises cyclists to stop riding their bikes immediately until they can determine whether their brakes are part of the recall and, if affected, are replaced.

Avid SD7 brakes under recall have a date code between June 1, 2014 and May 26, 2017. The date code is stamped on the back of the brake arm in date format DDMMYY (day, month and year of manufacture). The brakes were only sold in black, either as separate aftermarket components, or installed as original equipment on ElliptiGO model 11R elliptical cycles. If you are unsure if your brake is part of the recall, please contact SRAM or your local bicycle dealer for verification.

If you have an affected brake, contact SRAM or your local bicycle dealer for a free replacement.
